Overcoming Poor Habits and Fear of the Weight Room Leads to a Healthier and Happier Lifestyle

 

 

 

 

 

 

How’s it going ladies and gents! Today we are excited to share our client and friend, Cathleen Gray’s 20 week Dieting journey. Cathleen came to us in need of structure, guidance, and wanting to change her habits and lifestyle. Cathleen also had a wedding planned for 2017 so she had a great goal and timeframe to get it done.We knew that Cathleen wanted this change so bad from the minute we spoke with her on an initial phone consultation before she started. Cathleen had her fair share of ups and downs throughout her dieting phase but never once did she consider throwing in the towel. She understood that setbacks were part of the journey. Throughout her 20 weeks Cathleen lost a significant amount of body fat, gained a ton of confidence in the weight room, and developed some great habits for the long haul.

We like to show these stats because too often we see misleading information about weight loss success stories. The moral of Cathleen’s story is she lost a significant amount of body fat, gained some lean body mass, and never had to deprive herself from foods she enjoyed.  She accomplished her goals without making her life miserable and enjoyed the ups and downs of her journey while developing some amazing habits that she can now apply to her lifestyle for the long haul. Most importantly just look at how much happier she is in the “after” pics 🙂

I began working with Coach Eric for my 6 month nutrition and training program in April, in hopes of getting in shape and looking my best for my upcoming wedding in November. From my first discussion with Coach Eric, I knew I had made the right choice. So much time and effort went into getting to know me, my preferences, my goals and creating a program that was individualized for me.

Along the road of my program, I definitely stumbled and had some serious obstacles, such as being diagnosed with PCOS which can be scary and also make losing weight very difficult. As soon as I told Coach Eric about my diagnosis, he knew exactly what I was referring to and made me feel completely at ease that he had worked with other clients like myself and explained what we might have to tweak in order to see results. In the past, other “trainers” and coaches I have worked with simply gave me a cookie cutter plan, and when I failed, made me feel badly about it.

Week by week, Coach Eric encouraged, guided and inspired me to be the best version of myself. Although some of my triumphs may have been small (lifting in the “Big boy” section of the gym, lol) Coach Eric always made me feel accomplished. I have never had a good relationship with food, or my body, and Coach Eric helped me put everything in perspective and learn that progress is progress no matter how small or how large. He also taught me that I have the ability to make choices in food and training, and that missing one day or miscounting a macro is not the end of the world.

I can confidently say that I am an entirely different person, not only physically, but mentally, after working with Coach Eric. I sent videos of myself crying, laughing, and looking not my best early in the morning… and Coach always responded genuinely and supportively. I felt as though I had not only a coach but a friend. I learned so much about nutrition, counting macros, and training and I feel as though I can move forward with confidence knowing that I can transform my body if I put in the time and effort. I no longer feel lost, or fearful when faced with food. I hope to compete one day, and when that time comes, I know EXACTLY who I want to work with in order to achieve my dreams! I cannot say enough about Dynamic Duo training. I am a lifelong client!
